Welcome to Bayt al-Hikmah !

Bayt al-Hikmah is an alternate history total conversion mod which explores a universe in which the armies of the Umayyad Caliphate won in the Battle of Toulouse in 721 A.D. leading to the defeat of Charles Martel and the Franks in 732; completely changing the course of history. As the year 1822 rolls around, the world finds itself at the verge of a new era. While the revolutionary Syrian Republic failed to overthrow the old order and impose its domination, their attempt still shifted the balance of powers. The grand old sultanate of el-Andalús finds itself perched precariously atop the globe, but its grip is weak, and many other nations may seek to challenge Andalusi hegemony. The industrialising Rumelian Republic rekindles the embers of its Roman past and will attempt to spread their revolutionary ideals of secularism, civic nationalism and liberalism abroad. Meanwhile, the revived monarchy of esh-Shām and the 2nd Egyptian Madaniya will try to re-establish their past glory from the rubbles of the revolutionary wars. To the East, the eternal Eran and the large and wealthy Hindustan both have a card to play in the construction of this modern era, especially as the Imperial Order in China has just collapsed, leaving the continent’s hinterland ripe for the taking. Trouble is also brewing to the North, in the hills and plains of Awrobba, where old, decaying kingdoms find themselves between the mediterranean imperialism and the rise of radical religious movements against this foreign encroachment. While the old world fights for supremacy, the western hemisphere also has its share of upheavals coming. The Moroccan colonial empire is all but collapsing, and the hold-out indigenous powers of Tawantinsuyu and Haudenosaunee long to break the yoke of Andalusi imperialism on their respective ends of the continent of Morjaniyah.
